Mössbauer spectroscopy

Janis close cycle cryostat with the accompanying spectrometer (SEECo, USA) allow very efficient acquisition of temperature dependent Mössbauer spectra, down to 4.5 K and ovens for measurements up to 1200 K over a large range of velocities and for different Mössbauer isotopes (57Co, 119Sn and 151Eu). Static magnetic fields of 300 Oe and 600 Oe can be used. Different spectrometers work both in the Mössbauer mode as well as in pulse amplitude mode. Conversion Electron Mossbauer Spectroscopy for surface analysis (in applied field and temperature dependent) can be also performed via 2 spectrometers.

Magnetometry

    It employs the Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) technology, to achieve the state of art sensitivity and reproducibility of magnetic measurements (10-8 emu resolution in magnetic moment, maximum field of 7 T, 10-4 T resolution in the maximum field, temperature range from 2 K to 400 K, with a maximum stability of 10-3 K).

    It is a cryogenic free system working with the sample down to 1.5 K and under applied fields of maximum 9 T and with a sensitivity of 10-5 emu (VSM) and 10-7 emu (AC). Other facilities: additional current source for low field measurements, 4 points measurement for resistivity for up to 4 samples (classic) or 3 samples (Van der Pauw), furnance for high temperature magnetometry up to 600 K.

  • Quantum Design PPMS-14 Physical Property Measurement System
    It is an open architecture system which is optimized to perform a variety of measurements at variable temperatures and magnetic fields. It can be easily configured to own designed experiments, by combining magnetometry, heat capacity and electro-transport measurements. The maximum attainable field is 14 T, while the temperature at the sample place can range from 2 K up to 1000 K (depending on the option).

  • AMACC Magneto-Optic Kerr effect device.
    For magnetometry of thin films and multilayers works at room temperature and in fields of up to 0.5 T with a remaining remanence field of maximum 10 Oe. The sensitivity of the system goes to monoatomic layers of magnetic material, with the possibility to rotate the sample in its own plane in order to study the magnetic anisotropy versus in plane crystallographic directions.
